So this broad finally answered me two hours later and said she was fine but could we reschedule? I said yes. She replied 4 days later and said yes but she couldn’t this week (which I understood because she’s still got her full time job) but one day next week would be fine. So I replied by asking if there were any days she could or couldn’t. That was two days ago and she’s still not responded.

Just got done with a phone interview. I do not like talking about myself, but I think it went fine.

I asked more questions than I normally did/do in interviews past, so we'll see. I'm in need of a change of scenery and would like to learn something new, which is exactly what this job would be. The place I'm with now is going through its third or fourth(?) re-org in the last several years (maybe 6 or 7).

I mean, I feel very fortunate to be in the position I'm in. I could probably take a dump on someone's desk and not get fired, but I've gotten grumpier with this place as time has gone on.

It would be a lateral move, but much more room for growth than in current conditions.

When you get this new job make sure you exploit whatever vacation / PTO you can prior to resignation.

Whatever you do, don't land on the spot on the desk you shat on.

After 7 days she has now responded and asked what day would be best for me.

Yeah. My plan is to wait a couple of days then tell her thanks but no thanks.

Wease really just needs his own interview/hire/fire thread and let the rest of us talk about … not that.

As of this morning, I've been offered the position I interviewed for last week, and have formally accepted.

It could be a while before I start. It's another federal job, but a different agency so not a direct transfer.

My neighbor, who also works at the same agency as I do now, just got offered a job with this same gov entity--he's the one who told me about the job. He heard from a guy there that said the fed is getting ready to sign a bill that would give them a good bump in pay...somewhere in the 20k range, likely to take effect over this summer. If true, it's likely they're trying to keep their people from going to the private sector where they could earn more.

Anyway, the wheels are in motion. Hope this is the much-needed change I've been looking for.
