Matt's drums sound great on "Come Back"
OK look I love Come Back now, but I can see it in so many contexts that are a part of current me, not past me

I'm going to have to listen to this album more in the light of not hating anything on it now!

Love some of these tunes. Alot of really good songs. Only one dud , but even the dud. I catch myself enjoying in the right mood.
The problem is it is the first PJ album not to have a magnificent song. Cold Confession is magnificent btw .

I agree, yes; and up until fairly recently I'd have said it was the first PJ album with a track I had to skip
what's your dud?

Unemployable, Come back and Life Wasted are great songs.
I've always liked Marker, Army Reserve, Inside Job and Severed Hand.
The rest of the songs are good, but not great.
This record will always bring the best memories for me. What a tour. What a couple of years.

Relistened last week and I like Come Back more than I used to. Wish the outro was longer. Much longer. Replace Wasted Reprise with more Mike at the end of Come Back.
Parachutes has always been a favorite and remains so. Great song in its own right, perfect song on this record. Stone love songs >>>> recent Eddie Vedder love songs.
I will always like Severed Hand -- hands down the best fast one on this record. However, I'd love to ask Mike how he feels about Eddie writing a song about how much he likes drugs. Does it bother him? Anyway, lyrically this one is way better than the other "I love drugs" anthem penned by Matt Cameron. And Mike elevates both songs with a great guitar solo so there's something to ponder.
I've always liked the guitar work on Big Wave. I wonder if Eddie Vedder gets as many surfing themed Christmas presents as my dad used to get golf themed ones.
I didn't get Army Reserve until I saw it live in 2016 and heard what Matt and Jeff were doing. Wish that groove stood out more on the record version.
I don't love Gone or Unemployable. I wish I could love Inside Job. All three of these are misfires for me, largely lyrically though I also can't get super excited about Gone musically.

I just really struggle to get past the first two verses in Gone. I don't know if it's the mix or what but I hate the guitar tone and Eddies tired vocals at the beginning. It's just a slog until "For the lights of the city" and then it gets better. Unemployable on the other hand is a big highlight for me.
