Beth Gibbons makes an appearance on this album, it is rumoured, but I haven't heard it for myself

We Cry together is awful.
Father Time is my favorite so far.

I would say the same so far. I had to turn it off during We Cry Together. I find it massively frustrating that the music is so great, and he has these great flashes, but then it falls apart very fast for me. United in Grief was really good, and Father Time, but Worldwide Steppers has great music but distracting vocals, Die Hard is very middle of the road for an artist that is so creative, and I might like the Rich interlude more than Rich Spirit. This is a mixed bag 1/3 of the way in. Flashes of greatness and frustration all around.

4 listens in I think it starts and ends strong but is too long in the middle. We Cry Together is crazy intense and they nail what he’s going for but I can’t listen to it. Listened twice, that’s enough. That’ll be an easy skip from here on out.
My initial impression is this will feel more like an artistic achievement than an album I repeatedly listen to.

I think when an artist gets built up and placed on a pedestal like Kendrick has since Obama endorsed TPAB, you end up with stuff that drags like Mother I Sober. Your stuff still has to bang bro. We aren't just hanging on your words.
3/5 stars
