In the comic book series this is 'loosely' based
a nuke goes off which blocks out the sun, greatly weakening superman.
This helps keep the fight from being absurd. Also Batman has a suit lined with some special kryptonite he's been developing for years.

Agreed. All of these are reasons why it was a self contained story though.

It also takes place in a dystopic version of Reagan's America. The political climate of the Cold War played a big part in it, so it really wouldn't work if they took that approach.

Yep. So I imagine lex luthor does something to sap a good bit of Superman's power in this version. And this is suppose to be the launching point for the justice league so maybe the two team up at the end. #notsure

Hahaha yeah I don't think it is going to be a very grounded in reality type of thing.

I really like that it almost makes Batman out to be the villain. Everyone worships Superman, while Batman plots to take him down. Looks cool.

I'm finding it extremely difficult to get excited about this movie.
There's just no heart to this. No soul.
