Yeah, I've been looking to move Donaldson since last offseason and this filled a need of mine.

Keep in mind I also have Kris Bryant and very little starting pitching beyond Strassburg.

I think Kershaw is probably the only pitcher I would accept in return for Donaldson.

For sure. That's probably why I don't make a whole lot of trades. I'm not willing to lower the asking price to fill a hole.

I felt like the time was right to cut bait on Donaldson. Last year I was trying to get Mookie Betts or Rizzo for him but now I'm willing to take less value to fill a need.

Fair enough. Not everyone needs the second best player in baseball on their team.

You're assuming that Donaldson is the same player in 2017.

Is there any evidence to suggest he won't be?

His age, not the same surroundings in the lineup he's had the last couple years, and just a hunch. I'm basically trading one guy who was really good the last couple years but is a good candidate to take a big step backwards for another guy like that, except the one I'm getting fills a need I have and the one I'm trading I already have a better player at that position.

Meanwhile you gave Josh Donaldson to the one team that doesn't need any help winning this league. :gomez:
