No Steve Gorman, no Black Crowes.

I didn't know that Gorman was suing them.

BOA, the man behind Crowesbase and the reason many of the great recordings we've enjoyed for the last 30 years exists, passed away today. Gorman put it up on his IG.

An incredible loss. I met him a few times over the years and always enjoyed spending a little time with him. Such a generous spirit. A buddy of mine was/is a huge BR549 fan and Boa recorded them numerous times over the years, including some of those opening slots for the Crowes back in 1996. My friend reached out to him back around 2002 about a trade for them and Boa just immediately set a trove of recordings. No trade necessary, just a massive share. He was gutted to hear of Boa's loss.
I last saw him at the Led Zep tribute that Steve organized in Nashville 5 years ago. Boa recorded it, of course, and sent me a copy within a few days, along with a nice note. That's just the kind of guy he was.
As I was getting online and got interested in trading tapes (!) back in the late 90's, I became aware of him and loved reading his reviews of shows far and wide. I couldn't believe someone traveled to other continents to follow a band like that. As I acquired a few of his recordings and benefitted from his generosity, I was in awe. Later I realized what a gift he was and how most bands didn't have anything or anyone like him, just supporting the band the best way he knew how.
He made it so much more efficient and fun to be a fan.
RIP Boa.

Surprised to see a live album from 1993 drop on Spotify. It seem t be from the Southern Harmony era. I wonder if it’s from a scrapped Southern Harmony box set.

I’m just seeing a small live EP “come on like a dream”. 4 songs

The small amount of film available shows that Charlie Starr is the best guitarist not named Marc Ford for this band
Unfortunately, Charlie Starr is the frontman for what at this point is a MUCH better band than the Crowes are

BlackBerry Smoke sucks ass. Robinson bros dump out more talent and musicality after their morning coffee than that band at their best. Starr is just a fanboy for the era you dig. Not in the same stratosphere as Luther, or hell Paul Stacey.

What about Paul Stanley?

More unneeded vinyl from the Bros Robinson:
https://shop.theblackcrowes.com/product ... 2lp-7-inch. Remember when they said they were making new music?

Take this for what it's worth
No full scale tour this summer, it appears. Just festivals for the most part.
Recording on new album expected to take place around May/June.
Rich says they have 40 songs.
Sven and one of the lighting guys told a board member after the Vegas shows in February to expect a fall tour behind the new album.
Also, Nico from the original Magpie lineup has now replaced Isaiah from Earthless....happy for Nico, he's a solid player...this means that the entire band from the original reunion announcement on Stern has been turned over at least 1X each
I'll always check out new material from the Brothers writing together but going to see them live seems pointless at this point, unless Chris is retiring that stupid umbrella and awful suit he was wearing the last two years

Seven and a half months after the most recent post, and there really isn't much new to add. I mean, the tour with Aerosmith collapsed...who knows how that'll get resolved. Oh, and the lads botched the Southern Harmony box set. Have you seen this video of Chris, Rich, and George Drakoulias discussing "Sting Me"?
Painful and silly as hell to see them avoid mentioning Marc, Johnny, and Steve. Well, George mentions Eddie and Johnny at least. Good to see the cowbell get such rave reviews though.

Not much to say, other than Steve was 1000% right about everything
And yes, the Southern Harmony release is a trainwreck.
Even a new album of new material would garner nothing more than an "I guess I'll check it out" sort of reaction from me.
