I have been planning to attend this HOF ceremony for like 5 years, knowing they would be in during first year of eligibility. Come on it was a lock.

But having kids now, and it being in NY, I had to bail on that plan.

I really wish I could go and I really look forward to when it airs on TV.

I'm super glad that as a teen I connected most with PJ who is still touring after all this time, as opposed to say Nirvana who fizzled out before I even got my drivers license.

This is special. It's fucking awesome.

Every word of this pertains to me as well. Except the living in NY part.

This is exactly how I feel (While recognizing the somewhat self congratulatory nature of this perspective).


Pearl Jam is probably the last great arena rock act. It s a fucking blessing we got to live in their moment with them.

I didn't mean to sound self-congratulatory (but I can see how it may have been taken that way). I meant it more as luck. I feel lucky. You can't help who you fall in love with, right? I feel fortunate that this is the band I fell in love with.

PS - I don't live in NY either. I was saying NY is too much of a hassle, and with my current life situation it may have been more worth the effort to go to Cleveland. I live about 5 miles from the Space Needle, as the crow flies. Or more importantly about 3 miles from Husky Stadium.

To be honest I was against them doing this. It's where bands go to die.



But now I'm really happy and proud of them.

I could be way off base, but I don't think the band are breaking up or ready to stop touring forever. This could signal the end of "studio Pearl Jam." And honestly, I'm not sure I'd hate that. A world in which Lightning Bolt is the final proper album (before reissues, b-side collections, box sets, etc) but the band continues to play live doesn't sound very far fetched or ultimately unappealing to me.

Of course, I love their studio work. And I'll miss the feeling of anticipation for the next Pearl Jam album. But I won't be heartbroken. I will however be shocked and disappointed if this is actually the end of the band, touring and all. I'm not sure I'm ready for that.
