That'd be cool.

Imagine what a heavy follow-up would a "Them Crooked Vultures II" be.
JPJ won't be around forever, Josh isn't having the time of his life with his messy divorce/custody case, Dave would totally wreck a few kits recording this mofo.

yeah, its a good moment for a few Them Crooked Vulture albums and shows.

I kinda get the feeling the Foos are eventually continue.

The more I think about this, the more I think Dave will struggle to come back from it.

In 1994, when Kurt died, Dave was only 25 and had known Kurt for less than 4 years. He was young (had a youthful disposition, no sense of immortality and wanted to just get out there and do his own thing).

In 2022, Dave is 53 and had known Taylor for 25 years and seemed to have an unbelievably close bond with him - like brothers who actually got along like best friends. That horrible sense of mortality must now weigh heavy with Dave, especially factoring in deaths of contemporaries such as Chris Cornell etc. Trying to put myself in Dave's mindset right now is a really dark place.

i'd almost encourage the guy to disappear for a while. i love 'them crooked vultures' and wish he put more time into that project, but after this i would hope he just takes care of himself and spends time with his family. same with pat smear. he's had 3 bandmates die tragically. these guys have enough money and don't owe anyone anything.

Yep, they need to disappear from the spotlight for a good while and recuperate.

Taylors' death will hit Dave much, much harder than Kurts' imo.

Mark Lanegan just died and he was also technically in a band with Grohl for a short time.

Alternatively, he may be a well adjusted adult male who can heal from this in a healthy way. Music saved him last time, i dont doubt it would this time as well while also having a family and experience under his belt.

If he wants to go on, i trust the dude will do it properly and be just fine.

I think Dave Grohl loves being a rock star too much to go away for too long, but he should take all the time he needs.

you should probably delete, or at least rethink that first sentence lol.

i think it's hard to compare this to kurt cobain. grohl burying himself in a music project after nirvana fell apart makes sense considering how famous they got so quickly, and then how quickly everything went down hill. he's a middle age guy who just lost his best friend to a drug he's been seeing kill people most of his life. if making music helps him grieve i'm all for it. it's just hard for me to imagine doing anything like that for a little while.

feel bad for Pat Smear in all of this. That's three bands that have ended in tragic death.

I imagine he will be all done with the rock start thing.

I understand why they picked that tune for the tribute, but it would’ve been nice if they’d chosen a track he actually played the drums on.

Interesting that Matt Cameron was happy to be quoted on the record, even where his account is disputed by Grohl and FF management.
