Re: 12th album rumors and speculation
the last time I saw them live was 2006, I think? so yeah, I found a few songs I liked in the Backspacer / Lightning Bolt era, but I was definitely prioritising other bands by then; I don't have a lot of money so l have to prioritise one or two gigs a yearHiggs wrote:Kinda weird maybe? I dunno. Are you saying you aren't interested in seeing PJ live anymore?Ms Harmless wrote:I don't wanna go to a show where they play 5 songs I don't like; is that weird? maybe it's weird; I've only seen bands live that I thought had a near perfect catalogue (it used to be PJ)LetMeSleep wrote:They rarely play more than 5 new songs per show. And having been 10 years since their last tour here it's likely to be 5-6 between Gigaton and Dark Matter.Ms Harmless wrote:I don't understand wanting to see a band live if you don't like half the songs they'll play

Fair enough. You seem to love the music you love very much, must make choosing the shows that much harder.Ms Harmless wrote:the last time I saw them live was 2006, I think? so yeah, I found a few songs I liked in the Backspacer / Lightning Bolt era, but I was definitely prioritising other bands by then; I don't have a lot of money so l have to prioritise one or two gigs a yearHiggs wrote:Kinda weird maybe? Re: 12th album rumors and speculation
Pretty sure none of the band are up waiting to do a live reaction on Tiktok for the Gen-Alphas this record will undoubtedly be courting, but, if they are, someone is gonna need to hand Mike an extra Ensure.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I don't know. That's just the most confounding description I've ever heard in my life about maybe anything.Ms Harmless wrote:did they say that about this particular song?evenslow wrote:if this is somehow actually tom petty meets soundgarden i'll be impressed.

Re: 12th album rumors and speculation
it's not easy, luckily I go through phases of fixating on just one or two bands; last year they were The 1975 and Sleep Token, so when they played near me I snapped em up; I'm also disabled so travelling and accommodation is difficult and expensive, that's probably a factor as well!Higgs wrote:Fair enough. The clip w/just the band - the first few parts of the guitar remind me of Audioslave. My oldest kid (16) said the same thing today while we were listening. The part where it starts to ascend and then descend (repeat) - that part reminds me of a Stone riff.

Beer opened. Usually don't drink this early in the week but, we're having our first little human any day now so whatever. Not like im gonna sleep for the next 5 years anyway.
Here's to the start of this record rolling out over the next couple months. May we all have a blast building it up and tearing it down along the way!!

When 14 year old me fell in love with this band i could have never imagined being 46, struggling to stay up till midnight just to listen to the new single from the band i still love. We're really lucky to still have them.
