Heck of a lot better than road running. Around here at least.

We talking pavement or gravel?
Our Greenways are all paved but I still prefer it to road running because of the lack of intersections as well as how flat the pavement is. Most roads here are domed at a severe angle for flood control.

Paved. The one in the neighboring county does have a stretch or two with gravel.
Has your half marathon training started or is that next week?

It's been equal parts boring and instructive. Boring because I can't just run what I want, but instructive because after three weeks in, I'm learning a lot about pace. This week starts ramping up the mileage, which should be fun. I got a 4 mile tempo run in today and was excited to see that I hit my target pace even though I forgot my watch.

Skipped out today. If I can find a window in the weather tomorrow I gotta get out there.

Winds @ 19mph and wind chill 32 degrees this morning. Got 6 miles in (with gloves!) and it felt fucking great. Any colder and I'm not sure how I'd deal, but I've got a newfound respect for ghost, verb, strat, joe, and all you other northern and/or mountain runners.
Got nearly 600 miles in 2021. Upping the goal to 1,000 in 2022. It will be rough but doable. Looking at my weekly miles from last year, that goal is within (challenging) reason.

Personal best for three miles today at 27:24. I should have just gone for another .10 to try to beat my 5k best.

I ran a sub 25min 5k today. Been chasing this goal for over a year. I challenge anyone in this thread to keep after it, whatever "it" is.

What will be your new life goal when you crush that one?

D*mn side cramp started after 2 miles. Ended up walking a good bit of the next mile, then running slowly most of the last mile. 4 miles in around 43:30. Meh.

not great but not horrible either
I say you just gotta persevere through those shitty runs were you get a cramp or need to stretch in the middle or whatever
sometimes that's just how it goes
I miss running
