Saw No Escape last night. It's pretty intense (to the point of often being unpleasant to sit through), but I don't think it accomplished much, and I think it's deeply problematic both thematically and as a thriller. Also, I wish Dowdle had found a way to keep his usual found footage style; that immediacy would have elevated this material.

But did the kids live when they were thrown from roof to roof?!

Lawrence of Arabia is up in my queue. One of the classics I've never watched; I'm sure it will be a two nighter once I do get to it.

You're in for a treat.

Saw Hitman: Agent 47. A total mess. All over the place. Poorly edited and full of cheap CGI. There were some interesting ideas sprinkled here and there, but mostly it was just boring.

Chappie.

God...awful. really awful. Its basically the same movie that Distric 9, with a little short circuit and a little robocop.

Life after Beth.

Another lousy movie...so she turns into a zombie and thats it??

Welcome to Me.

Really fun. Great first half then it kinda has a time trying to figure out where it wants to go and what it wants to be. So it ends much more unevenly than it begins. But the performances are solid and I laughed out loud a lot.

Digging For Fire.

Not as good as his last couple. I definitely enjoyed it, but it has some problems. There was a talk-back at IFC with Joe and Jake and that was outstanding. Probably better than the actual film. But it made me appreciate the movie more, so I'm glad I got to see that.
