I just feel like the guy has a track record of success. I dont watch enough of his games to know his tactical skills well(I am aware of the complaints of Cubs fans about overworking pitchers,) but the guy has won in three different places, in different eras. He has to be doing something right.

I remember that Don Mattingly was mocked pretty strongly early on with the Dodgers, did he ever improve or did the Marlins just hire another terrible manager?

I thought I read something from a Cubs writer somewhere that said he wasn't that great of a clubhouse guy.

Those two are not comparable. Williams managed one team for two years and never won a playoff series. Baker has taken three different teams to the playoffs, and went to the LCS with two of them and the WS with one.
