It’s surely a stellar way to turn your re-election hopes around, though
McParadigm wrote:Republicans can’t agree with each other on how to best scale back benefits as Americans miss rent payments and the economy contracts
Part of the hangup stems from a push by administration officials and GOP lawmakers to cut - but not completely eliminate - a $600 weekly payment of enhanced federal unemployment benefits. The White House and GOP are not in agreement about how to do this and talks remain highly contentious. They are hoping to release a proposal early next week.

I am more and more concerned that the plan is to not have the election. Making these stories moot.

Idk. This either seems like wishful thinking or underestimating McConnell, neither of which strikes me as a particularly good idea.

Either way, it seems like they could pretty easily extend this program as is by a week or two to give themselves breathing room to make a new deal. I'd be very surprised if federal benefits go to $0 on August 1.

Unemployed Trump voters are not going to vote against Mitch or Trump. They are going to blame democrats.

McConnell can never be underestimated. The guy gets little love but one day conservatives will see he was their true hero. He seems more than fine with creating a narrative against something but letting it hang around (Obamacare is a great example). This has been what the right does for a while now, but Mitch is why they have that luxury. I have to believe at some point his own side really screws him by demanding and getting something really stupid (like a big scale back of benefits during a pandemic?) but it’s been 10 years at least now, and he’s still there doing his thing.

hysterical panic lol. lockdowns and heavy restrictions are necessary because people in general can't be counted on to favor clear logic over emotion. you can't even give them the option to make that choice.

The idea that lockdowns and restrictions are even real things is hilarious. Your government daddy can't protect you. There's a block party going on right now near you. People do not give a fuck about this.

Apparently a bunch of TV stations owned by... well... you know who... are going to air the Plandemic video this weekend. I expect only good things to come of this!

Actually it's not the plandemic video but another one created by the same person. In the video they claim the coronavirus was created by Fauci.

If this pandemic has taught me anything, it’s that I now realize America doesn’t care about it’s fellow man as much as I thought it would.

9.11.01: “USA USA...I leave nowhere near NYC but I’m with my fellow American by putting an American flag sticker on my car and flag on my porch. Doing it for my country!” (While Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” plays in the background). It was an easy way to show your support without really doing anything.

2020: F you I’m not wearing a mask or practicing social distancing to protect my fellow Americans. It’s a violation of my constitutional rights
