Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. Man, I LOVE Super 8.

I wanted to. Started off really strong. Had vibes of ET, Goonies, and Jaws. But it slowly unraveled for me, and by the end I was barely paying attention.

I totally understand that. I'm a JJ fan, but I absolutely understand why people dislike him. He just scratches a very specific itch for me and I appreciate what he does, even when I know it's nothing brilliant or revolutionary. Sometimes it's just down right derivative. But Super 8 especially, got its hooks in me. I don't know. The magic really worked.
