Re: Election 2016
I always asked that question out of an idealistic joke.
But after this campaign being so utterly ugly (and we haven't seen the worst yet. Believe me!) I thought it would be interesting in a hypothetical or real sense. I think either of those people would be great heads for a NEW party. People would get behind en masse.
Ripple effect worldwide would be great too

I can't think of anyone most Americans would get behind. Just putting on an elephant or donkey pin guarantees 40% of the population hates you, regardless of your positions.

I would say California is even 4 states:bune wrote:One word: California. I do find the stories from Bune and McParadigm fascinating as it's part of the US I just never saw. Particularly the viewpoint of people who have moved away and have some distance before seeing what those areas are like today.
My only experience is the coastal cities (and a little bit of Texas and Vegas), but even from that perspective I find myself constantly disagreeing with Australians who try to make generalisations about America and really can't seem to understand that the whole "50 states = 50 different countries" statement has a lot of truth to it.

I'm not even kidding
But did any of you see the Bruce interview a few pages back?
He has political notions. (Is what a US network would say)
But you never know

Did I tell you guys about the time I interviewed at Schilling's video game studio? I've never seen so many downtrodden and defeated nerds.Simple Torture wrote:Curt Schilling looks great.

Re: Election 2016
There isn't much to tell, except I had to interview for about 6 hours and got the sense that everyone was just waiting to lose their jobs. It looked like a disorganized mess of a studio. Schilling wasn't there that day, so I took that as a personal insult. You could see the catastrophe that awaited them and Rhode Island a year before it happened.doug rr wrote:no..tell us unless its too long of a storyBurtReynolds wrote:Did I tell you guys about the time I interviewed at Schilling's video game studio? Massachusetts is what it is, but one of our proudest moments has to be that we made Curt beg to Rhode Island instead. Either that or Salem.

It was that MMO game that never materialized. You can probably buy the rights to it from the state of Rhode Island for about 10 bucks. From what I hear he was a nice guy, just way over his head.

Burt, we could've been neighbors!
*If you had gotten that job and then if the studio hadn't gone belly up and lost the tens of millions of dollars the state gave them.
Interesting related-to-the-election fact: tons and tons of RI politicians got their hands dirty with the Schilling deal, except for the governor at the time Lincoln Chaffee, who ran for the Democratic nomination for about a day. Some documents got unsealed earlier this year and it turns out all the crooked guys thought Chaffee was too dumb so they didn't cut him in.

Good God! I just tried to watch the Al Smith roasts.
So, so boring.

I was just thinking that there probably won't be much to follow between now and Election Day. Then I read that Trump is going to lay out his plan for his first 100 days in a speech at Gettysburg tomorrow. Oh boy.
