So, I started using letterboxd, and I'm building up my list of movies that I've seen. I got to somewhere around 1,200, and I thought wow that is a shitton of movies. I watch movies all the goddamned time.

Then I took a calculator out, and realized I've only watched about one movie every two weeks. Very disappointing.

How long until we have high-profile, auteur, big-budget movies filmed in vertical orientation? How will it happen? Netflix does some data analysis and decides people want to hold their phones vertically while they watch so they give David Fincher $125 million to make another character-driven thriller which opens the floodgates. Major cinema chains start installing vertically-oriented screens in every multiplex to try to keep up but it doesn't work.

I'm not opposed to the idea. Vertical orientation could be totally cool

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Bien had a good interview on Michael Rosenbaum's Inside You podcast last year. Its on youtube. A little hard to watch since he's aged pretty badly and he used to be gold when I was a kid. Good stories though.
