As a way to do a soft reboot of the show within the show so that the series could live on after the primary cast left, I liked them well enough. There were a bit too "Jim and Dwight-seque" for my taste and I'm glad they chose to turn away from that dynamic as it progressed. Pete was a nice character that felt obvious and a bit dead-end. Clark was an annoying and flimsy character that had a lot of story potential depending on where they chose to take him.

Yeah I agree with every word of this. I thought Pete was a perfect device for Erin’s development though (her reunion with Joan Cusack felt so out of place to me).

One of my favorites of the series and one of the best episodes of it's type in sitcom history.
