Bassist Jeff Ament had this to say about the single: "I can’t tell you how proud I am about this group of songs. As you know, we took our time and that benefited us taking more chances.

'Dance' was a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration, mixing up the instrumentation and building a great song, and Ed writing some of my favorite words yet, around Matt’s killer drum pattern. Did I mention Mike’s insane guitar part and that Stone is playing bass on this one? We’ve opened some new doors creatively and that’s exciting."

The Dave Byrne impression threw me pretty hard because it's such a iconic delivery but...it kinda works. The vibe and outro is pretty cool. I don't really care about lyrics so....I wish the band attacked their parts a little harder....not like 90's fuzz box it up more like up the intensity especially Mike...maybe its my shit computer speakers but it's not all the way there. It's the best sounding record since Riot Act. There is nothing embarrassing here....no part where I think "ugh dumb". Pretty satisfied.
Are people out there really listening to this - or any music - on computer speakers?
For real
I can picture you guys in your cubicles with your $1000 headphones, record player and vinyl really feeling every sound. "Debbie can you handle the next call and shut the lights off I gotta listen to this right".
Hey, I don’t listen to vinyl.

Sorry, I didn’t at all intend to mock you. My surprise/horror was genuine.
Hey no problem. If you let me know what the audiophile approved method of listening to youtube is I'll be sure to change my ways.

OK I have a PC with two external speakers and a subwoofer. The speakers say Altec Lansing on them. Is that better than the ear buds that came with my phone?

For what it’s worth, I haven’t had a dedicated stereo set up in years; my phone and computer (with headphones) are it.

Some of these lyrics are kinda making me think they're about Ed's feelings toward the band over the last decade.

love the lyrics on this. Ed killed it IMO. I love the build up into the second chorus "Coulda held me up, brother, tear me down, Drown in The River!"

Mach 1 figured out the actual "dicks and fix and file things" lyrics. Makes so much more sense.
