I can see that, just depends what works for you. And yeah... the last bit may well be me too. I have the best intentions, but I'm probably not the most likely guy here to stick to them.stip wrote:see, in a way a leak enhances all of this for me, because then when you finally get the actual album you are already familiar with the songs and are in a better position (or I am, anyway) to appreciate the missing lyrics, the art, the aural surprises in the better mix. It's like getting the album twice.harmless wrote:It sounds like you don't see albums as visual art pieces as well as aural musical pieces, Lounge Lizard. You may not even care about art in general, I don't know; but it sounds like this album will really fuse the two together, they will be all of a piece; so listening to a leak spoils that.
Of course the real reason I'll listen to the leak is because I'm an impatient bastard

I want to be a member of this club, but I know that isn't happening. I was part of it for Riot Act and it was great but didn't have the will power for S/T or Backspacer.

Re: No Leak Club
im proud to say, with PJ i respect the release of the albums.
I do listen to official singles or live song premiers, but i know i will be here when LB is released.
I still remember going to the record store and buying Avocado, going home, open the booklet...amazing.
The same with RA...Binaural...even Backspacer was special.

I don't think I made any 'conclusions,' I said that I don't know and I was just guessing (not assuming). But I think it's just as logical to say listening to the album on its own won't destroy the experience, as to say that listening to the album with the physical stuff in hand will enhance it. I don't think these facts are mutually exclusive. In the end, the latter is just what I want to do. It's no more objectively right than your own plan.Lounge Lizard wrote:that's a pretty wild conclusion and as far off the mark as one can imagineharmless wrote:It sounds like you don't see albums as visual art pieces as well as aural musical pieces, Lounge Lizard. What I'm saying is that the booklet can enhance your listening experience and overall enjoyment, but if the music is good, then in no way should its absence take away from the quality of the album.

No, I just agreed with him. Isn't that acceptable? You dismissed one of my reasons for waiting (to do with wanting to listen with my wife) with a 'LOL', which was also a bit strange and self-righteous.Lounge Lizard wrote:No, people shouldn't have sex unless there's candles everywhere and rose petals all over the bed.harmless wrote:Everyone should just fuck if they're horny, digital age etc.Lament wrote:You really are a prince among men. No, but if sex with your favorite sexual partner was something that happened once every four years, you'd probably do something a little more special for it then a thirty second plow in the bathroom of a Dunkin' Donuts. And if you can only listen to a new album by your favorite band for the first time once every four years because that's how often they put them out, I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to set the experience up in whatever way you want to.Lounge Lizard wrote:No, people shouldn't have sex unless there's candles everywhere and rose petals all over the bed.harmless wrote:Everyone should just fuck if they're horny, digital age etc.Lament wrote:You really are a prince among men. I personally will be lighting candles and placing rose petals all over the bed while hanging up giant prints of the artwork all over the room and waiting for harmless to come listen to it with me. I'm ok with the fact that he'll have already listened to it with his wife. I'm slutty like that.
