i want Martin/Sims both but if Martin wants too much money then let him walk, as much as i love him they can find another 3rd or 4th rounder to go with Sims and be just fine.
i really think the biggest need this off season is pass defense, as much as i want a big time pass rusher, if they could cover anyone then i think the DL would instantly look improved because they other team wouldnt have wide open receivers on a 3 step drop. i wont be upset if the first round pick this year is a DE if they really have a chance to be great, but ill be hoping for secondary help first.
i think Evans is fine, if he didnt seem to be bothered by the drops then i would be worried but he was down on himself over them so i think he will be working really hard on his mental game this off season and will develop into a top 5 WR for sure. ASJ on the other hand im not so sure of, dude is huge and supposed to have all the talent in the world but was outclassed by Cameron Brate who i had never heard of before lol, the guy needs to find a way to stay healthy and start producing immediately next season or else just shop him for what ever late round draft pick they can get. i cant stand seeing a dude who has done nothing all game getting attitude over an over thrown ball or his own inability to gain 1 yard to score a TD, i saw him throw 2 or 3 temper tantrums on the field and i cant really remember seeing him catch more then 2 or 3 passes all season.
the O line still needs some work but if they are looking for a starter then i hope they look to FA, i really want this years draft class to be all Defense....unless someone drops to us that we just cant pass up.
i specifically watched most of that indy game this week just because Josh was starting for them....and he didnt look too bad

Wtf. I hope they keep Koetter as oc, I really like that guy. This is weird. Almost as if they got word that someone big is available.

The only way this makes sense is if they are making Koetter the head coach. That guy was great for Winston, if he goes I fear Winston may not progress as quickly.

Koetter is NOT an NFL head coach. He's a good offensive coordinator/QB whisperer. He doesn't have the personality or organizational skills to be a good head coach in the NFL. His tenure in TB or Philly would be a disaster.

This sucks, i felt like the team made some real improvements this year and now everything is going to be starting over.

I agree, but him leaving would be a step back for Winston

Not sure how you have in depth knowledge of his organizational skills but someone who developed a rookie quarterback multiple times in their career has obvious personality traits that will transfer well to that of a head coach.
He already has the respect of the players in the locker room and can lead a potent offense. So, assuming his tenure will be a disaster seems a bit arbitrary to me.
That defense was a absolute dumpster fire and progressively got worse. As soon as Lovie took over play calling he signed his papers. I have no issue with the firing.

The rumor floating around now is that the Eagles and potentially one other team (Tennessee maybe?) have shown serious interest in Koetter. Wanting to keep Koetter for Winston and the fact that the offense was better than any in recent memory, they canned Lovie to give Koetter the position. If this is what happens, I'm ok with it, because in the long run Koetter was going to be more important than Lovie for the organization.
Some schlub reporter from Tennessee what floating around the idea that Koetter was being eyed to develop Mariota.

I'm guessing t2b is considering his tenure at ASU, and I guess I could counter with his tenure at BSU, where he arguably set the foundation for that program to skyrocket in Division I-A.

Also, for what its worth, the Bucs homepage and facebook feed have been talking up Sims like crazy, and without any mention of Martin being second in the league in rushing. Not sure if they are hyping Sims on the fans to prepare them for not having Martin back, but it sure feels like it.

They fired Lovie over the phone? Keep it classy, Tampa.

Yes. I worked on the Sports copy desk during his tenure at ASU and the guy was in over his head the entire time.
He simply didn't operate like a head coach. He spent virtually no time with anyone outside of the offensive groups. He would literally not talk to any other players for an ENTIRE practice. He would often not address the team as a group. There were several players who said they went their entire "career" at ASU without Dirk directly addressing them once. I realize this is not entirely unusual, many HCs tend to favor one side of the ball over the other, but he seemed to actually dread addressing the team. He had a real hard motivating people. He's so low-key in nature that he was really poor with challenging guys or "pumping" people up. Again, that's not unusual for HCs, but he's also NOT a "players coach." So he came across as aloof and kinda detached. He was also terrible with the media and dealing with the public in general. And PHX sports media is pretty light-weight, he'd get eaten for lunch in a place like Philly.
Essentially, he wasn't interested in anything beyond offensive game-planning.

Well I respect that answer. What are the chances I'd run into a dude that worked with him on a message board?

I wouldn't say I "worked with him." I worked at a close-knit newspaper and heard a lot of talk among the sports reporters.

that's close enough to have insight.
