Yeah, I'm enjoying the new Andre. I know it has only been 3 days, but most of these songs only have a few thousand plays on Spotify. I was expecting a little more curiosity at least.

Also, Eryka Badu is hilarious:

I have to disagree here, I think it's been a great year for new music so far.

Here are some excellent releases from the year imo:

Alpha Mist - Variables
Bobby Lee - Endless Skyways
Body Type - Expired Candy
Carla Geneve - Hertz
Cian Nugent - She Brings Me Back to the Land of the Living
Daughter - Stereo Mind Game
ford. - Guiding Hand
Jen Cloher - I Am the River the River is Me
Rose City Band - Garden Party
RVG - Brainworms
Slowdive - Everything is Alive
Young Fathers - Heavy Heavy
The Chemical Brothers - For that Beautiful Feeling
Greg? Foat and Gigi Masin - Dolphin
Mystic 100's - On a Micro Diet
OkoŃski - Magnolia

I have been giving all the above a lot of play this year.

yeah, you're right Higgs. after i posted that i had to look back to all the new music i listened to and realized there's quite a bit. i'm a bonehead.

the ones i've played the most...in no particular order

slowdive - everything is alive
yo la tengo - this stupid world
wilco - cousin
Wednesday - rat saw god
black belt eagle scout - the land, the water, the sky
protomartyr - formal growth in the desert
slow pulp - yard
boygenius - the record
mj lenderman - and the wind (live and loose!) - this just came out friday, but i played it countless times over the last weekend.

albums i've listened to at least once and heard things i liked and need more time with:

king krule - space heavy
mitski - the land is inhospitable and so are we
lifeguard - crowd can talk/dressed in trenches
empty country - empty country II

Spotify is always pushing Mitski on me and I just don’t get the appeal.

Looks like the total plays weren't updating for whatever reason. He's now at over 30 mil. Go Andre. Play that dang flute, mayne.

King Gizzard's The Silver Cord was a little disappointing. A lot of electronic-tinged meandering. Psych rock is a much better foundation for when they want to jam it out extended IMO.

Danny Brown's Quaranta is solid. As is Aesop Rock's Integrated Tech Solutions.

Yes. All true. I listened to the short version and thought it was alright but didn’t lose my mind.
