Yes it was.
It sounded sluggish as a result. Perhaps that is why they are not playing it.
Shh, don't voice this opinion in the show's thread, people will call you a sociopath with a superiority complex.
Ha! If this is the reason why they are not playing it, then good for them. It's smart. As Harmless said, some songs still work when changing the key while others lose something. It's just curious to me that the lead track from their new album, which was released just over 2 weeks ago is already not in Eddie's range. Such a fantastic song too.

If this was the only song I could listen to from now till next Summer, I'd be OK with that.

same deal with the fixer, and most of that record

Getaway is quite a screamy one and hard on the chords. Ed probably wants to preserve his voice for the tour. It's also very wordy so there's a lot of strain throughout the song. Infallible has a couple of difficult parts out of which Ed omits one live. I haven't heard MYM live except for the live debut but that's another one that would probably be downtuned if it's played regularly.

MYM has been played regularly and not tuned down (I don't think). yes it's screamy, but not high register screamy - it's more growly, in a range Eddie can handle.
getaway, on the record, is in a higher range that I can't see him handling well at all. he did ok with it tuned down, but in my opinion, the song sounded quite neutered.

Nope, MYM hasn't been tuned down.

as long as it sounds good on the record
although I am happy to concede that writing good songs in a more comfortable register might be the ideal option. It's not like getaway's vocal performance is so unique or intense that it just HAD to be documented that way

I think that presenting something on record that you can't duplicate without studio help is a bit phony though.
kind of like putting Gatorade in a wine bottle.

Disagree. They are 2 different mediums. If Pendulum couldn't be played live then you wouldn't want it on a record. That's crazy.

I will listen to every Lbolt studio track at least 50 times I hear a live version. I could care less.

I should be more specific. I'm talking about eddie and what he can and can't do vocally. the songs on record have him singing a way that he can't in a live setting. a good example is the fixer. on the epk for bs, there's footage of the band playing the fixer in the normal key, and eddie does not sound good at all. yet on the record, he's hitting all the notes. force of nature is another one.. I think he sounds great on the record, but live they tune it down, and he still struggles.
my point is that if eddie needs all this "help" to sing in these higher keys, he should stop writing songs/melodies in them. what are we hearing on the record - eddie, or eddie run through a machine to make him sound... younger?.. or just different than he actually sounds in the present day? i would prefer that we just got the real thing - album and otherwise, warts and all.

Have they ever done the fixer/force of nature in the normal key then? with him sounding ok?
I'd be inclined to just believe he can only hit those notes on a good day, and the studio day was a good day and some of the live ones will be tuned down and some won't be.But if they're recording it in a key physically cannot recreate then yeah, wtf bro Just record it different.
I think other studio effects are different, production choices and wooshy noises and wma type drum tracks or whatever, they're obvious studio embellishments. Altering the vocals to make it seems like its natural (if it even is altered that is) feels like....lying, a little bit.

Like the spontaneous! climbing on lights with a safety harness on it? Good news is we're inching ever closer to getting matt in one of those cages that fly over the crowd.
I like to believe the bottles are just a safety net incase he has an awful show. The reviews all say " zomg eddie was so drunk he forgot the lyrics to 5 songs fell over twice and talked about the moon for 10 minutes straight" and eddie can say " yeah....drunk...totally"

Getaway sounds fucking great on record precisely because of the way Ed sings it.
I don't give a shit if he down-tuned it in Charlotte. I'll be listening to the LB copy for the rest of my life, not some random live show from 2013.

I actually think he/the song sounds good on the live version. Lackluster cause of the shitty recording more than anything i think. Just think it would be odd IF it were recorded in such a way he knew hed never be able to do it live. That is all.
