"As Ohana will be the only show for us this year, we are excited to announce that sitting in on drums is... Matt Cameron!"

Saw him at Sea.Hear.Now a few years ago and it was really entertaining.

I saw him back in 90 or 91. Faith No More opened. Fucking fantastic.

While I think it’s more likely to be a one night fill in for Ohana, it would be cool if they took the stage, played a few songs and then Ed introduced whoever was behind the kit as the new drummer for Pearl Jam before continuing the show.

I wonder if that's part of Mike's frustration: they can find drummers who are happy to play a few one-off shows, like Abe Laboriel Jr (supposedly), but can't find anyone suitable who can commit to the band long-term.

I kinda felt his frustration was that they havent chose who was the drummer yet. That might be resolved.

If that’s the case, just hire a studio drummer and get moving…

I’m sure there are a ton of talented drummers, who are good people, that would love the gig.

When was that Mike interview, three days ago?

I’d wager there’s a zero percent change anything changed between then and today’s announcement.

Ohana would’ve been in the works for a while, but clearly the drummer situation isn’t totally settled yet.

Maybe they thought it would help to give themselves a firm deadline that would force them to get to work on finding a new drummer.

Right now they're probably setting up a meeting to get everyone looped in, get all their ducks in a row, circle the wagons, and hopefully get to the point where they can set a roadmap for a dialogue moving forward.

I enjoyed watching Dave K's performances with them, the different groove he brought and can appreciate how so many praised his playing, letting the songs breathe. As much as I enjoy the hyper-tempos of the MC era, Dave K's guest-spot made for a fun listen.

But when some speculated it was his time to rejoin, I guess I have doubts about his abilities to come in and play the variety of music they made since Ten. Maybe I'm completely underestimating him and he could do a great job on Grievance or Spin the Black Circle. Who knows. I'd be surprised if he rejoins but then, this band's decisions have been largely unpredictable.

I've said if before and I'll say it again. If they need to rejoin with a previous drummer, Matt Chamberlain would be the dream candidate. I think he would be a great fitt overall.

Chamberlain is the dream choice, the band's best drummer.

I doubt he'd want to commit to the band's schedule as a regular gig, but I live in hope.

He has a very long history with the guys.

i would be so happy if it were Chamberlain

but I think he is too good for PJ

let's face it

Ed is a nightmare to work with

maybe they convince chad smith to do a one-off show
