For the most part people agreed he was struggling. The debate was whether it was fatigue from the shows or a lack of inherent capacity.

Flubbing lyrics doesn't really affect how the vocals sound, but they do have a lot to do with the overall appreciation of the song. Since I know the song, I don't care if he repeats the same verses second time around as he did in Wrigley. If you hadn't heard the studio, as we hadn't then, it really didn't affect the appreciation of the song even.

I love that lightning bolt performance last night. It gave me a greater appreciation for one of my lesser favourites on the album. Fantastic!

Meanwhile, Sirens is on my top tracks on LB and I felt let down by the performance. Although it did pick up towards the end (after the guitar switch).

I think it's way easier for up-tempo songs to translate into these types of television performances, though, both in terms of playing and watching them.

Yeah. When Fallon says "SIREEENS!!!!!" in his excruciatingly excited voice, and then they play a ballad, it's kind of a buzzkill.

I really love seeing the band on a smaller stage like that compared to the big touring stage. FEels more intimate and makes them look and sound more like a garage band.

oh, i loved it...it was flawed, but fucking awesome as well...gave me chills...and i dont care that much for the studio track...

Naw I mean in general. The liklihood of ed knocking these songs out of the park night after night is greatly decreased when theres so much words and theyre playing em that fast id imagine. Im talking out my ass though maybe ed finds it easier/more fun.

I think it's more that you don't really have that atmosphere you can get from hearing a slow song done in a theater or arena; you're basically just watching them stand still and do a song on television, and your interest on it will likely depend on your interest in the song. With the more up tempo stuff, you have the visual energy of the performance to latch onto.
