I'm skipping around some of his '90s stuff and it seems considerably less interesting.

I like the big-lumbering-oaf version of Crazy Horse, which was effectively approximated by PJ on "Mirrorball." You're right that the '90's albums are inferior to his '70's work (just about everything is), but if they don't grab you now I'd revisit them on a day when you haven't just been bombarded by a steady stream of some of his best stuff. They all have unique charms and virtues that might not shine through as clear when your only frame of reference is a side by side comparison with his masterpieces.
