I had to make do. Microsoft Paint is the best thing they have here in the clink.
I lied. I had to print out the pictures and literally cut and paste them. The glue tastes like shit.
And semen.

Lament wrote:Butch Vig barely produces anymore. He's produced a total of like eight records outside of Garbage in the last twenty years. And nearly all of them were by pop-punk/emo bands (AFI, Against Me!/Tom Gabel, Jimmy Eat World, The Subways, Green Day, Never Shout Never). I'm not sure what he can do for Pearl Jam in 2015. Except maybe get them a lot of press with "PEARL JAM WORKS WITH LEGENDARY NIRVANA PRODUCER" type articles. They definitely need to work with someone new, but going back to someone else who peaked in 1994 probably isn't going to do the trick.
I thought Vig did a great job with Foo Fighters "wasting light". That album had a very garage rock feel Pearl
jam have been lacking IMHO.
I'd love to hear a Vig version of MYM & Infallible.
Tbh don't really care as long as it isn't BOB.

I guess I'm in the minority here in that I don't necessarily have a huge problem with the way the band actually sounds on the last two records, but more that I feel like there was no outside pressure on them from BO'B to make less obvious, less lazy creative choices. I don't know that I could see Butch Vig challenging them to think/play outside of their comfort zone any more than BO'B can.

I don't think he'd pass on any idea due to the song had too many parts.
He'd be more open to different ideas due to past musical experiments IMHO.
He ultimately wouldn't of made Lightning Bolt different just sound like it should.
For a different sounding album Id approach Josh Homme.

I'd love to hear what a PJ album would sound like with Gil Norton producing.

I'd prefer to hear an album produced by Trent Reznor or Michael Gira. I love what Michael Beinhorn did on Superunknown but I doubt Cameron would work with him again.

I actually don't care who produces the next album but I'd like a change in the sound. If the moodiness of qotsa like clockwork mixed with Nothing As It Seems and Pendulum was possible then

And Reznor is not a choice I necessarily want, just a reaction to the potential blandness of Gil Norton (which would be better than BOb)

They don't need a new producer. They need a new intention. Bob made magnificent sounding records with them when they had vision and would push past his overaction. The problem is that they don't have that artistic design anymore. They can write songs. They can pick which ones "sound like Pearl Jam" and arrange them well. But there's no aesthetic statement or spelunking going on.
The degree to which a producer matters is the degree to which you don't already know what you want. Otherwise, it's all about getting the right engineers.

But they always or have second guessed when it comes to the mixing stage. The can't carry their vision through to completion. If it was as easy as that we could get Tchad and Trag into Litho and just press record.

They just need to spend a few days having an alcohol and drug fuelled orgy with hookers, while writing and recording. Have whoever the fuck producing, and release as much of the material that fits onto a CD.
They can call it: Asshole Sunburn and the Journey of Syphilis
A return to form of sorts.
Come on PJ, get with the program and do something outside the lines of PJ. Take a risk. Do more than simply fart and record it - follow through entirely.
Shit your pants, PJ. Shit your pants.

Are you not a Pixies fan?

I forgot about the work with Pixies. That's probably a safer bet for them than too far off kilter. Anything too abrasive for them and they'd either retire or run back to Brendan.
I said it ages ago but an old school Glyn Johns or Jimmy Iovine could be interesting. A nice warm live band in a room recording with minimal overdubs.
