I really like how the songs keep churning along in this self indulgent, grand fashion.

The Suburbs is so much better, by the way. I don't want to kill any boners out there. Just saying.
The Suburbs felt too long for me. This album is much longer but feels right. But I don't feel the need to argue over best albums when it comes to Arcade Fire, I'd take any one of them with me onto a desert island to die.
i agree...no need to rank. give me any of the 4.

them and the national - best bands of the last 10 years.

I listened to reflektor (the song) again out on a walk and it's pretty great. I may have to give this whole album at least one more shot

I don't think Eddie vedder has a calculating bone in his body. I think there are times Backpsacer is awkward, but always sincere
If you listen to Dave A, Eddie Vedder is nothing but calculating. ;) ;) ;)

"Ocean of Noise" is my favorite song on that album.

"Afterlife" is tearing up into my top 3, or at least top 5. Its a nice little nod to the Neon Biblel era, with the addition of LCD elements as others have stated.

I think I had the harshest things to say to him and they weren't even that bad. What's the big deal?

"Wake Up" is a pretty difficult and ambitious song to pull of live. They hardly ever nail it. Still, the energy was there.
