Why was he so concerned about not being last? They get nothing for second do they?
He wasn't. With the bet he made if he got it right and Emma got it wrong he wins without any risk of the third place dude overtaking him.wease wrote:Why was he so concerned about not being last? They get nothing for second do they?
I thought he mentioned specifically not wanting to come in last in that link I posted.cutuphalfdead wrote:He wasn't. “I knew I could only win if Emma missed Final Jeopardy, as there was no way she wouldn’t bet to cover my all-in bet, so my only concern was getting overtaken by third place, and I bet just enough to make sure of locking him out," he said. "Betting big would have looked good for the cameras, but now I turn my straight bet (Emma misses) into a parlay (Emma misses, and I get it right).”wease wrote:I thought he mentioned specifically not wanting to come in last in that link I posted.cutuphalfdead wrote:He wasn't. Ok. I was just reading too much into it.cutuphalfdead wrote:“I knew I could only win if Emma missed Final Jeopardy, as there was no way she wouldn’t bet to cover my all-in bet, so my only concern was getting overtaken by third place, and I bet just enough to make sure of locking him out," he said. He could have bet a little bit more (3201) and covered a situation where Emma gets it wrong but bets 0, which was what I intuitively thought he should have done. But there's no way she does that so it's not as smart as I thought it was.wease wrote:Ok. I can see Alex retiring after that airs too sadly.
