Have you never seen him?
Is this a Secondmen gig, or is it with Tom and Raul?
Secondmen is good, but I think the organ falls a little flat -- it gets a little noodly, not super "rawk," but it is sort of weird and punky.
Tom and Raul would be preferable, 'coz the guitar works better than the organ.
Either way, you should definitely go. Dude plays the bass like a demon, and his facial expressions throughout the show will be worth the price of admission.
i last saw him in the 90s in denver...this show is with the secondmen...

Saw him too and thought his voice sounded better than ever. Got to hear him do "Moving" which really scratched the Supergrass itch.

Saw McCartney in Portland on Friday. I'd seen him once before at Bridge School. This exceeded my very high expectations. Really turned in to one of those transcendent, remember-this-night-forever moments for me. So impressed by that guy.
I'll spoiler the setlist in case anyone is going to future shows on this tour, as it'll likely be the same every night:
Electric Set Pt. 1
A Hard Day's Night
Save Us
Can't Buy Me Love
Letting Go
Temporary Secretary
Let Me Roll It (with 'Foxy Lady' outro)
I've Got a Feeling
My Valentine
Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five
Here, There and Everywhere (performed on piano)
Maybe I'm Amazed
Acoustic Set
We Can Work It Out
In Spite of All the Danger
You Won't See Me
Love Me Do
And I Love Her
Blackbird
Here Today
Electric Set Pt. 2
Queenie Eye
New
The Fool on the Hill
Lady Madonna
FourFiveSeconds
Eleanor Rigby
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!
Something (Paul on Ukelele before full band joined in)

Black Sabbath and Rival Songs on Sunday night.
Sabbath were about as good as last time I saw them. Ozzy's singing leaves something to be desired but there were still plenty of genuinely great moments in the set.
Rival Sons aren't doing anything that excites me very much musically but they played really well and I thought their drummer was superb.

What does he do for the parts when Nels would typically be soloing? Harmonica?
good question. a lot of times he just truncates the song, like in impossible Germany. other times he'll pull out a harmonica like in handshake drugs. and still for others, he'll nail solo parts. he's really an underrated guitarist.

In past two weeks I saw Iron Maiden, Gary Clark Jr and Courtney Barnett.
Iron Maiden - The least engaged I've ever seen them. Two of the guitarists looked bored the whole night. Very stagnant set, basically a recycling of the same set from past 20 years. Probably last time I see them.
Gary Clark Jr - Very good live. Saw him on back to back nights and he changes song arrangements very well. Surprised at how good he was. Totally recommend him if you like guitar based blues.
Courtney Barnett - She was good but not ready to be a headline act. Short set, 70 minutes including encore. I actually don't have a problem with a 70 minute set but it should require having a better opening act and letting them play more than 30 minutes. Would see her again but only in a small venue and with some lowered expectations.
