I am always surprised but pleased when I hear an old recording like that and a whistle randomly shows up. Need more whistles in modern day music.

I heard an actual whistle, as in a ref's whistle (not someone whistling, a'la Andrew Bird). Listen at 17 seconds in and you'll hear it.

Although now that I re-listen I'm not so sure. It may indeed have just been a mis-breath on a wind instrument perhaps.

And looking up the gaita, what a lovely sounding instrument!

Whistles are almost as bad as siren woops in songs

Ah. Actually what you are hearing there is my grandmother going "shh" as she's recording the radio broadcast with her phone, probably from an old cassette tape, to send to me. A second before that you can faintly hear someone speaking in the background, so my grandma shushes them. It's clearer with headphones

Failure has been real good since reuniting. THIAM and In the Future… are my favorite albums of theirs, tbh (heresy, I know).
