BTW trag was 100% right in his summary of how democrats caved to stupidity in the Montana race.

I do honestly feel like every day is full of these moments, and then people go "yeah but what do democrats STAND for?!"
Like, where do you think those rules came from, Scoob?

To be fair to trag, not that you are gonna allow it now that you smell blood, the book is called "What Happened" and she has spent an inordinate amount of time scapegoating everyone and everything that starts with "R" to explain why it wasn't the Dem's messaging, platform, or candidate that lost the election. Constantly reliving that pain point does nothing to help the country get Trump's toxic ideology voted out of office, probably the opposite in fact, as was pointed out.

But again, this is a complicated concept to distill into a split second clip for the TV in the elevator up to the 43rd floor, you know? It's nowhere near as easily digestible as "Trump convinces Carrier to stay in US!"

Today is the day retiring republican legislators became president.

I don't really know the ins and outs of AZ politics; how much of this is just that he is unlikely to win because the Republican Party is Trump's party now?

I listened to that speech and it was actually quite heartbreaking.

My theory: the retirement is about knowing he'll lose, but the speech is about banking on a post-Trump party that looks for rebels who stood up to Great Leader to regain its credibility.
If I'm betting on this idiocy to collapse, giving this speech right now is how I start my 2024 presidential run.

That's my theory on Sasse as well.
Corker is too weary and hopeless about it all for that kind of ambition.

Would have been better if he just walked out of the room when finished, but he pretty much nailed it. Now where was this bravery 6 months ago?

I get it, to an extent. I think a lot of Republicans hoped Trump would change his tone once he took the oath; it's taken them a while to accept that he's not gonna change.

I did too. I really did.
