AND, to flip it on the analytical crowd. They put so much stock into walks, and guys getting on base, and how a guy getting on base is so important. But now dismiss a defensive player who allows players to reach base by committing errors?

Mattingly instituted a "no-facial-hair" policy for the Marlins this season. It's pretty silly, especially considering Donnie Baseball was himself kind of a dick about the Yankees' same policy back in the day. Months after being named captain, he refused to cut his hair, got benched, and demanded to be traded. He talked to the press about it in no uncertain terms, too. Things were sure different back then.
