Re: The Running Thread
I've been running with the Coros Pace 2 tracker all week. I really want to hate it but I kind of love it. Cadence, stride length (how does it even measure that from a wrist?) and heart rate data are what I'm really interested in. I manually added a 61 resting HR and 182 max HR for calibration, but those are educated guesses. Sound normal enough for a fit 38 year old?

Amazing weather. 45F and blue skies. Will do my dinner on the ridge tonight, honestly that is my favourite thing I do in the city. You have to work for it and it is beautiful beyond words. Plus, I think I do it pretty well with hot food and good wine. There may be enough moonlight tonight to do the decent without a headlamp.washing machine wrote:How's the weather looking this weekend? Did manage to knock off 10k in just under 60 minutes. Pretty happy with that heading into the weekend.
Saturday will be low key, a short ride at best. A run Sunday would do me good though. Thanks for the idea/inspiration.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

I bet your RHR and max are better than that. That's around the same as mine and you're much more cardio fit than me.washing machine wrote:I've been running with the Coros Pace 2 tracker all week. Was going to go for a run today, but the weather put me off

Did a pretty crappy 5k. Just felt off the whole time and had to walk more than normal.

Re: The Running Thread
Yeah, I think it's closer to <60 after wearing this thing for over a week. I went for an intense 5k last week and noticed I maxed out at 179 for that run. I did it in 24:42, my second best by about 20 seconds. I bet I could push my HR higher, but I was definitely booking it on that one. Hardest effort I've given over the last few weeks.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:I bet your RHR and max are better than that. For an 8 mile run over the weekend my watch told me I had an average HR of 155, putting me in the "threshold" zone. This seems off to me because the effort felt easier. Maybe I don't understand what "threshold" means, but it sounds intense (which this long run definitely was not.)

I think threshold wouldn’t fall into an intense zone. It’s been awhile since I’ve read about that though.washing machine wrote:Yeah, I think it's closer to <60 after wearing this thing for over a week. Re: The Running Thread
Tried intervals and flamed out after two at just short of a mile. Went a bit slow on the second mile hoping to regain my breath for the last mile. Around 2.30 in my stomach started to feel weird and by 2.55 I felt like if I jogged another step I’d diarrhea myself. Walked slowly to the finish and felt lightheaded as well.
I give up on intervals.

Re: The Running Thread
Man, I'm convinced I have my HR calibrated wrong on my Coros app now. I basically walked for three miles at a 9:10/mile pace, even stopping a couple of times, yet I still got an average HR of 159 and neared 170 for the max. I mean that's just the watch reading my pulse so I guess it's right, but that feels so very off to me. I am expecting a jog to be below 150. Am I just not understanding how any of this works or what?

Re: The Running Thread
I hate this watch and I just wish I could run free again. I am shackled to the numbers now. No keys to the locks on these chains.

Re: The Running Thread
Jk, love you.
At that pace mine is around like 170 on average, but I know based on what I've read that's a good bit higher than most. I researched online a year or so back when I was concerned about it, and read more than a few people say theirs got high but they felt fine during their run. I know some said they were going at a pretty good clip, so you just may be one like that.

I guess. If you've been running 10+ plus miles at an 8:30 or whatever pace in my world you're fit as a goshdarn fiddle.

5k in 28:45. I'd feel better about this if the third mile didn't feel like a slog. According to my watch my second mile was slower than I would have guessed and my third mile faster, so i'm wondering if it was a little off.
