It was okay. I was improvising mostly so maybe there's a way to improve it but I would always choose basil over parsley given the option.

this, like the majority of hearty bean soup recipes i see, calls for meat (i see bacon or pancetta used mostly). and you can't just eliminate the meat from the recipes without replacing it, because it changes the entire balance (and taste) of the soup.

you should still make it for yourself...it freezes well
