I've never been able to get into NMH either -- some good writing and melodies, but Jeff's voice and the whole presentation of it is just so unpleasant to me.LetMeSleep wrote:Never made it through a song.bodysnatcher wrote:I’m with plat here. Some sort of potato thing? It bugs me!

Very strange feeling: Completely not recognizing a song deep into the second half of an album that you thought you knew well.
I must've either zoned out or turned off the music by the time I got to this part of the album every time I listened to it for the last decade. It happens to me more than I'd expect.

That thing over her head is a tambourine. You can even see the cymbal slots on the side. How is that even up for debate?

On the topic of NMH, I too am not 100% into that album. Not even 50% into it if I'm being honest.

Fair to say that, if forced to choose between NMH and OTC, those who enjoy lyrics more than sound would choose NMH over OTC (and vice versa)?

honestly my opninion was based on only having listened to dusk at cubist castle, I love it though, psychedelic pop is super hit or miss for me but that one ticks all the right boxes. I've been told before that Black Foliage is better though so yeah I definitely need to check that out

I love In Rainbows so much. I don't listen to it very often but when I do it always hits hard

My favorite Radiohead album. Everything they have ever attempted or tried or reached for came to a perfect peak on that album.Jorge wrote:I love In Rainbows so much. I don't listen to it very often but when I do it always hits hard

Reading Steve Hyden's book "This Isn't Happening," I was shocked to hear just how close they were to calling it quits during the recording of and immediately after that album. Evidently the recording process was just brutal (even worse than on Kid A). They write most of their songs in the studio, and aren't entirely happy with the songs after they initially come and not until they have played them a bunch on the road. That's why they went out on their tour 2006 to road test those songs. Before that tour, though, the inertia and fatigue from prior recording sessions were overwhelming.Strat wrote:My favorite Radiohead album. IIRC that was the album interview cycle when Thom kept saying they were done making traditional albumsChris_H_2 wrote:Reading Steve Hyden's book "This Isn't Happening," I was shocked to hear just how close they were to calling it quits during the recording of and immediately after that album.
