Count me in on the In Rainbows bandwagon -- that album breathes and stretches like nothing else in their catalog, to me you can totally hear that those songs had been recently road-tested at the time they were recorded. The compositions are sophisticated and nuanced like usual but the performances are effortless and unstrained, free from that slight element of 'overwork' you usually hear in Radiohead recordings...

I want in the club, too. It's the most effortless and natural sounding of their work, like every part is working at maximum efficiency. It sounds like what they always wanted to sound like.

It's hard to put any of their records above OK Computer. But yeah In Rainbows is just flat amazing. I have no argument against it.

OK Computer vs Rainbows is a lot like the Dark Side of the Moon vs Wish You Were Here. As close to perfection as you're going to get versus something a touch more organic and personal.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

while i would put one of the great albums of our generation (Kid A) ahead, i think both in rainbows and ok computer are spectacular. i do prefer in rainbows, though, because it sounded like a band that was finally lightening up and more comfortable with itself.

I literally came into this thread to post how OK Computer is basically required listening for Americans right now

Kid A is the album that got me really interested in Radiohead - it'll always be their sweet spot for me

I just listened to Kid A again for the first time in forever. It's actually less interesting than I'd remembered.

I don’t think that there’s another band with better, more recognizable opening chords to songs that open albums than Radiohead with that run from The Bends through Hail to the Thief. It’s pretty remarkable.
