Interesting idea. Kylo seems to take the hit when Rey shoots him when they first see each other. Then later they physically touch.
Has Luke physically absorbed all the barrage of fire in the face off against the walkers? We see him hold Leias hand and kiss her. Is this what actually damages him beyond healing?

Maybe? I dont think so.
Im guessing he died because of what he did. He become one with the force.

I just really enjoy the lightsaber duels in the new trilogy - so damn visceral and violent. In the prequels they were too elegant, clean and well they happened too often.

The Last Jedi really felt more like a series finale to me.

I just assumed he came to his senses, and came to help out. But cleaned himself up first. I wondered how he got into the base if the door was the only way in/out.
I wasn't 100% sure what was going on but I knew something was up. I was like, "how did he even get there?" Then, "Oh, that x-wing under water." Then I was all, "but wait, how did he get it?" Then, "they'll probably explain that." Then, "why is he young? Something's up." By the time the First Order didn't obliterate him, I figured it was a Force projection.
You were ahead of me then. I took the bait hook, line and sinker. I WAS wondering why he took the time to get a haircut and color his beard, but Force projection never entered my mind.
I really like how this movie gave us so many more ways the Force can be used.
When he first entered the room and was talking to Leia i was unsure if it was really happening or if it was just a vision. When the scene carried on and Luke appeared younger and had cleaned up a bit....My mind went straight to "well he cut his hair and engaged with the force and decided to join the battle". I never once thought it was a projection from Ach-to. Even when he brushed the fire power off his shoulder. At that point i was still on board with him actually being there and it was all due to his incredible Jedi Power.
At first it was a let down when we found out it was just a projection. Then i came around to it and I believe this was the absolute best way for Luke to rejoin the fight and leave this world. Amazing.
The absolute biggest clue and ultimately the thing that I couldn't get past was that he was holding the old lightsaber. The one we JUST saw broken in two and not his green saber. The second I saw that on his belt it was over.

One of the things I love the most about The Last Jedi is how much it echoes and reminds me of the prequels.

I would say that this exact scene is a competitor for "better than the climax of TPM" in fact. They're at least on the same level for me.

I actually agree with this. Out of the three new movies (TFA and R1), and certainly the OT, this one reminded me the most of the prequels. Something to do with the humor and the production.

Rian has since said kylo might possibly be lying to her and it’s a misdirect.
She’s definitely finding out who her parents are or maybe even meeting them in 9

Yeah, its kinda obvious to me now. Not sure why...but the whole parents thing is not finished.
Gotta say, i feel the movie worked alright with its placement...I know it feels like a conclusion, but it is really a middle chapter. No cliffhangers, some resolutions and some open themes to be resolved.

Calling it now.
Sweeping brush kid is Reys little brother.
Flip on luke and Leia both being seperated but in this case both slaves and very powerful in the force.

Yes.
And more to your observation here, Sarge...
I was just listening to a podcast about TLJ and they pointed out something how Yoda sort of teases Luke about how his mind is always on the horizon. Which perhaps leads Luke to realize that Ben/Kylo shares that same weakness. I love the idea that Kylo is so blinded by hate and by looking ahead to the rebels in the base on Crait that he himself doesn't see all the clues right in front of him that Luke isn't there. Kylo should have seen it. Should have felt it. Should have realized. Hell, Luke is using the very same lightsaber that Kyle JUST saw broken in two.
Luke is exploiting Kylo's weakness. And it also ties back to the First Order and the way they attack the entire film. They too are always looking at the next big objective and it's because of that dangerous oversight that they are brought down in their battles. They miss the smaller things. They ignore them when those little things are they key.
That's pretty fucking brilliant. It also helps make future viewings more interesting because Luke's giant Jedi Mind Trick/Force Projection isn't about tricking the audience. Rian doesn't care if we see it or not. It's about Kylo. It's not a filmmaking trick, it's a legit, necessary plot point and character strategy.
That's fucking awesome to me.

Which leads me to ask, "how come they couldn't just sneak a droid on Snoke's flagship to decrypt the tracker? Droids seem to do a ton of hacking in previous movies.

Another thought...there is no way they wont tell snoke´s Story. Maybe not in the films, but they will eventually tell us.

So, rumor has it that Lucasfilm had no idea where they were going with this trilogy. There is no grand plan. JJ wanted to do his typical mystery box thing and introduce a ton of possible avenues but there was never any idea how any of it would play out. Allegedly, Lucasfilm was kind of bothered by the attention Snoke and Rey's Parents were getting. Rian literally just shut it all down. Rian came in and was like, yeah, if you don't have specific plans for this shit, I'm just gonna get rid of it all and here you go.
This is coming from a couple different sources I know who work in the industry. It was also reinforced by the ForceCenter podcast. Ken (who works for Collider) said he'd heard rumblings to the that affect. Interesting. I wonder what that means for JJ coming back. If it's even true, which it may very well not be.
I wonder if JJ takes what he's been given and runs with it, or if he tries to "undo" some of it. Be fun to speculate about all of this until 9.
