Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Was there video of these actions because this sounds a bit like they are claiming someone screamed "this is MAGA country" ?

Do you think the National Guard is lying to FEMA?

Is FEMA lying to the Washington Post?

Or is the Washington Post lying to their readers?

I guess you could claim that the National Guard is being overly caution and acting out of an abundance of caution based on rumors, but I wouldn't think they'd want to stop rescue work unless they actually thought there was a reason to.

They arrested someone today for threatening FEMA workers. I doubt it was just because he was shouting “MAGA”

What’s the MAGA angle here? The Jews should clean up the mess their weather machines made themselves?

I think a fed's odds of being threatened by ornery locals is pretty high in Appalachia. They don't take kindly to those folk around there.

Now get the hell off my land.

Oh I see, a social media rumor that the feds are going to bulldoze and seize Chimney Rock.

Obviously yes to those three questions but that is besides the point.

I think there was probably one crazy fucker who drove by in a truck and threatened some workers and the rumor spiraled into the much more click-bait ready “roving gangs hunting FEMA personnel”

Which two questions of the three?

this is what happens when DJT becomes president

we don't have a neocon to send all these belligerents off to war

instead they fester stateside and try to cannibalize parts of domestic civil society created to assist them

hmmm ... 10 months later, and they were elected and indeed have sought to dismantle significant components of the welfare state ...

This is an impressive lack of knowledge for a hurricane.

Didn’t they disassemble NOAA?

Per Wikipedia (because I couldn’t get the actual NOAA website to load):

“In June, 2025, the Department of Defense announced it would no longer provide critical weather data to scientists and forecasters, including to NOAA staff”
