I'm sure Twitter will make tons of money after they alienate all the celebrities that post there.

I suppose he can charge what he wants, but I'd be shocked if Stephen King isn't worth more to Twitter than Twitter is to Stephen King.

Then why are people like AOC complaining about it? The $5/month Twitter Blue has been around for a year already and is no different than what Facebook, Reddit, InstaThot, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Tinder all do currently with their subscription services. All Elon has done is to tie in the platform's social status symbol.

I dunno, King is pretty addicted to Twitter. It's a great way for famous people to run their mouths.B wrote:I suppose he can charge what he wants, but I'd be shocked if Stephen King isn't worth more to Twitter than Twitter is to Stephen King.

Maybe she doesn't feel it's worth $8 to verify her identity.Bi_3 wrote:Peeps wrote:no one is mad that anyone can get a blue check mark

Maybe she's arguing for people who are less able to afford it than she is.

maybe she's annoyed that so many people bought into Musk's 'free speech' nonsense when the entire thing was about money

She doesn't seem too concerned with free speech, except maybe that there should be less of it.

Re: Social Media: The God That Failed
Verification is getting folded into Twitter Blue, it’s not $8 for verification alone. (Though Elon clearly has no plan so that could change at any time)

For the $8 monthly charge, users will also get priority in replies, mentions and search, ability to post longer videos and audio, and half as many ads, Musk said. He said that there would be a "paywall bypass" for publishers who are "willing to work with us."
The new strategy, he said, will give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators.
He added that there will be a secondary tag below a public figure's name, much like there is now for politicians.

Can I pay $8 a month to block any mention of Elon Musk or Twitter forever?
And they say that a hero could save us
