Funny, one of my best friends and fellow music fans said Jack White on his first listen.
The riff going in to the chorus is like Jack . The main riff is like many things
Jack's riffs are like many things, which is fine, no shade to Jack, but it's funky bluesy rawk

The main riff is basically "I Love Rock'n'Roll" by Joan Jett, and that's perfectly fine.

I'm not musically sophisticated enough to understand why this somehow keeps reminding me of The Cars "Moving in Stereo."

I swear I haven't watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High recently.

Tj wrote:I feel a bit guilty. I gave 3 stars listening a few times today I'm not sure it might be a 2. I don't dislike it, but the very generic riff is off putting and lazy. The guitar work going .into the chorus and the solo save it. To those that gave it 5 please explain why.
So far I agree with this. Also, to me it seems like a good solo that doesn't match this song. I don't think this method of singing for Ed suits him for a whole song, its like he is trying to sing blood but only has 40% of the ability, doesn't sound like he is holding back which is a style I prefer.

His vocal performance is very similar to his performance on devil doll with the super suckers

To me the "return to form" aspect is Eddie mumbling and not enunciating. We square back in '91.

That's probably the best part
The best part is the solo and everything after. Ed and Mike wailing away together.
I will listen to the song again in about 6 hours and report back whether this is correct or not.
Update:
While that breakdown after the chorus is indeed the tits, you are in fact correct.

It's okay, buddy. I feel you. It keeps reminding me of one of the old PJ songs that shall not be named (Can't Deny Me) and I ain't smart enough to articulate why. But it does and here we are.

Can’t wait to hear this one live.

And yes, I’m feeling Soundgarden more and more with each listen.
