We all see and use the word "is" many times every single day, but it's rare to see it by itself. It began calling out to me as we were making this record, because time and time again, when I would seek an explanation for something, I would get a hit from the universe that it just "is what it is," and that kept holding true for these songs as we would work on them. We attempted to remove our opinions from the process and just let the universe speak through us by experiencing the music, following its lead until the path became clearer and clearer, ultimately bringing us here to what is.
We found that, if we could REALLY let ourselves go and merge with the divine, that great ocean of soul where everything is connected, that the music could perhaps truly end up being what is REALLY needed to best serve reality as it "is" NOW...and perhaps through doing that, serving that NOW just as it is, we could simultaneously perform some magic trick to help better shape the world towards what we hope and believe it could ultimately be. Peace. Love. Healing. Unity.
I like that the word "is" is itself a simple symbol indicating presence. NOW- it IS happening...and we are so blessed and excited to be here making music NOW- on this planet, in these forms, at this moment, in good times and hard times, with all other beings present, all together right NOW!
How grateful we are for the gift of music- connecting us all to that larger fabric of love/god/universal consciousness. I truly believe we are all made from the same stuff, we all come from and will return to the same divine place, and music is perhaps the greatest reminder we have of that universal love and connection here on earth. May this music be helpful to you, may it bring you peace and joy NOW and all your days.
Peace and Love,
My Morning Jacket

Ugh. I'm just off his whole vibe these days.

I don't mind the new single. It has that 45 that Eddie found in an antique shop and decided to cover forty years later vibe.

Best thing about it is the lead break.
The messages in both songs have been pretty saccharine, and the weathering away of all the MMJ rough edges that first attracted me continue unabated.

I’m on the same boat.
The music on “Squid Ink” is pretty pretty good.

I am waiting on the album, mostly because I am obsessed with those albums in the other thread, but I am sure I will get to the whole thing Friday.
