"Harvest Moon" is a beautiful album -- it does a great job capturing a certain mature, sophisticated version of romance, one where a low flame is on constantly despite its boiling point having long passed. The title track has probably my favorite harmonica solo ever -- simple, melodic, and evocative.

Yep. Haven't heard it for years, might throw it on when I get a chance.

"Old King" probably should have been a B-side.

Yea, one of my faves. Prairie Wind is another similar album, though I prefer S&G's more intimate vibe.
Yeah, "Prairie Wind" is probably the weakest of the modern day "Harvest"s, though it has good moments ("Far From Home" being my favorite).

Neil is one of my favorite artists ever but there are plenty of times when I find myself needing to check my lyrical standards at the door, as his hippie-Hallmark-card tendencies really run away with him sometimes.

I think I'm one of maybe 6 people in the world that really likes "Are You Passionate?" It has some duds ("Let's Roll" may be his worst ever song), but I think it also has a lot of sharp, catchy songs with unique accompaniment (Booker T's MG's are his backing band), and -- especially -- some of the finest, most melodic lead playing of his career. "You're My Girl," "Mr. Disappointment," "Differently," "When I Hold You In My Arms," and "Two Old Friends" are all songs I like a lot.

Really digging Zuma. I've been waiting for this "sound" in Neil to come out.

Holy crap, "Cortez the Killer" sounds so much like The Drones.

It's kind of insane how many bands owe their careers to this guy.

Cortez the Killer is almost certainly in my top-whatever songs ever.

If you like that song, you should definitely listen to Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By and I See Seaweed by The Drones.

Absolutely. My wife and I went to see Neil when we had first started dating, and we did a sort of arena rock slow-dance to a smoldering version of that song that we still remember very fondly.
Can't wait for chapter 2 of Tragabigzanda Presents "Budding Romance" scored by Neil Young.

That's wonderful.
