Basically Brainiac collected cities from various dead realities and one of them had the Pre-52/Flashpoint Superman/Lois and their son. At the end of the event they were able to escape into the current prime Earth.
Im glad i didnt read that...seems exhausting. So Superman is our old superman who fought with doomsday and died right? and then came back?

Yes he's our old Superman and you were right to skip Convergence.

I hope they really know what to do with him now. They dont know what to do with him...the last 20 years of Supes have been such a mess.

So, I was reading an issue of Amazing Spider-Man from '84 last night and Spidey was fighting a street gang and 2 of the guys in the gang were named Matt and Ed. They were the only 2 with names but I like to think the other 2 were Mike and Jeff.

Alright guys I need some recommendations. All these marvel movies have given me an itch for more superhero tales. I subscribed to marvel unlimited and I have started reading planet hulk/world War hulk (for no other reason than it sounded cool).

I want to read civil war, but what should I read first (people in the comics seem to keep mentioning house of m, so I assume I should read that.) ? What are some unrelated events that I should also check out?

avengers disassembled
New avengers (first arc is like 6 issues)
house of M

then you will see how civil war starts and has been affected by those events

F4 vol 3 #579-582
F4 vol 4 #583-588
FF vol 1 #1-5
FF vol 2 #6-11
F4 vol 5 #600-604
FF vol 3 #12-16 (events take place during F4 vol 5)
FF vol 4 #17-23
F4 vol 6 #605.1, 605-611

His Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-Man stuff is good to great but most of his other stuff leaves me cold. Especially his output the last few years.

I liked Bendis up until he got on Avengers. Didn't really like any of that, but the JRjr art was gorgeous. Powers got to be a chore to read around this time, too.

Just based on his X-Men, GOTG and Civil War 2 stuff he basically changes his characters personalities so they can endlessly argue. He can't come up with a good external threat so all the tension is internal team strife.

And that's pretty much Bendis in a nutshell. Mostly talking heads arguing amongst themselves.

So in the end I went back to the 90s to read the infinity gauntlet stuff and discovered that I really like Jim starlin. I'm currently reading up on Adam warlock and the silver surfer.

Starlin did an awesome Batman miniseries with Berni Wrightson called The Cult in the late 80s. You owe it to yourself to track this down.

I was wondering why the releases this week were so sparse then it occurred to me it was the 5th Wednesday this month.

Darth Vader 22
East Of West 27
Extraordinary X-Men 11
Spider-Man 05

I'm going to be pretty desperate for pooping material in a couple days.

ive only read his marvel stuff and have been thoroughly impressed. i loved the side banter between the characters (cage/spiderman, hawkeye/spiderman, pretty much anyone and spiderman)

i loved what he did with the xmen and particularly scott summers
