I guess I'm just not sure what really separates them from stuff like Korn or Linkin Park beyond lyrical themes? All three of those bands make aggressive rock that incorporates hip-hop elements, but the latter two focus on arguably juvenile themes of teen angst/depression/anger in their lyrics, while RATM focus on themes of political angst/anger (which, I guess, could also be arguably juvenile).

I don't really see how FNM is nu metal. They're alt metal, for sure, but the lack of hip-hop kinda rules them out.

For what it's worth, on the wikipedia page for Nu Metal, FNM is the very first band they list when naming predecessors to nu metal (which they slate as beginning with the first Korn album).
