Accused is a nice listen for fans of True Crime. It's probably the closest thing to Serial I've heard out of all the TC podcasts that have been spawned in the wake of Serial.

Investigative journalism about a 30 year old cold case. Really well put together. 8 episodes.

In The Dark is also excellent.

Again, it's investigative journalism of a true crime. Again, it's akin to Serial. But there interesting thing about In The Dark is that the case was solved about a week before the podcast aired its first episode. They did some quick editing and released the first episode earlier than intended. It's interesting listening to a podcast about how the system broke down when you know the ending from the start. It's super enlightening and engaging and doesn't have to rely on the whole "is there an ending" "what really happened" "someone knows something" hook on which so many true crime podcasts thrive. It's well written and well produced. I'm only two episodes in and I'm really enjoying it.

This might explain why you haven't heard much news about your that podcast you love: Mystery Show, the podcast that charmingly investigated the small mysteries of life has had its run cut short. Creator Starlee Kine announced the news on Facebook, writing that her producers at Gimlet Media let her go in April as she was at work on the show's second season. "I lost my staff, my salary, my benefits, my budget and my email address," Kine writes. "Mystery Show is the only show this has happened to at Gimlet. Just a few months prior, iTunes voted it Best Podcast of the Year." In the wake of that news, Kine says that she has spent her time trying to work out a way to continue the show, though she hasn't yet found a solution. Perhaps it's time to turn the tables and recruit Jake Gyllenhaal to help solve this mystery.

Those Gimlet bastards! They better thoroughly explain themselves on the upcoming season of Start-up (which I was happy to discover will actually be about Gimlet again).

I've heard some stories about her behind the scenes. She's apparently a giant douche-bag caught up in her own celebrity.

The new HDTGM about The Lawnmower Man is their best episode in months.

I was looking at my podcast app last night wondering where the HDTGM podcasts were...apparently the feed was deleted somehow. I only missed one episode - Dreamcatcher - so it was fairly recent that it happened. Odd.

Even if Anne Heche sounds insane, there is a very good talk with her and Bret Easton Ellis.

I love Bret´s take on the Ghostbusters reboot.

I wish Joey would hear it.

As soon as Lin-Manuel Miranda started rapping in the middle of his WTF interview, I stopped the podcast and immediately deleted it.

I did not bother downloading this one.
He did mention that Immortal Technique was his high school bully, which I thought was interesting.

It's gotta be weird to make it big and then find out your bully did too. I mean, wtf kind of school did these people go to? I'm just happy to not be flipping burgers like the guy who bullied me is, ffs.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius and a goddamn national treasure. I'd listen to any/everything that man does for the rest of time. All day, son. ALL DAY.

That might be one of his best attributes, though.
