It’s hard to say. But the thing is: McConnell is still not sitting in on negotiations. Democrats are meeting with the White House again later tonight, but the last three nights yielded nothing because the White House isn’t budging on its wants. Whatever comes out as the Senate version of this bill would have to be unrecognizable from what it is now, in order to avoid risking a veto.

Could this be McConnell's play to lay it all on Trump?

House passed it. Senate strips a little out and passes it.

Then DJT has to be the one that stands between: help to citizens (suburbs included) and no help to citizens.

I haven’t had time to read more, but...

A. Democrats were attempting to put the Heroes Act to a unanimous consent vote, which wouldn’t pass but would have forced Republicans to actively vote it down. So this could just be a way of delaying that while they negotiate.

B. Republicans occasionally take Democrat-favored legislation and fill it with additions or details designed to make it unacceptable to them. Then they let the Democrats vote it down, so they can have a “they voted against their own legislation“ headline day.

But scenario A is a direct acknowledgment that their bargaining position is weak, and scenario B is never deployed for high profile time bomb stuff. I wouldn’t read a lot into it at this time, but it’s worth watching if negotiations continue to fail.

Two days in a row above the line of one American dying of it every minute.

I mean. It's death, Mickey. It's not "cool."

You're right, it's more the weeks of suffering and sense of cosmic justice than it is the dying itself.

I'd put it this way: Herman Cain and TPUSA each played a small but not at all insignificant role in a larger semi-coordinated campaign to erode the providence and protection of the state and to expose Americans to increased levels of economic coercion and precarity (by, for example, blocking efforts at healthcare reform and shifting tax burdens away from the wealthy)--a campaign that daily produces suffering on a mass scale. I'm glad they're dead--I think that's very cool and I only wish it had happened sooner.

Also, just a side note, Herman Cain's Twitter account this month was going on about how people are fed up with having to wear masks. I'm struggling to think of something cooler than that kind of karma.

Let’s go with fitting in place of cool, then you won’t seem as trollish.
