Mike spoke about the riff and added something to the whole experience. Maybe a word or two from Ed wouldn't have been too much to ask. Maybe some rehearsal shots of the chorography he did live throwing the bolt. That hip shimmy.
I was excited when I saw the video was of Ed. I thought he was gonna talk about the song

To be fair, the equivalent of Matt's drumming vid from Ed would be "This song is really cool, I like it. We like it. We hope you do too. Ed."
I can't remember if Matt spoke. The Ed vid just struck me as incredibly pretentious. For me, it was a missed opportunity from one of the songs writers. And does mean we will get a Jeff and Stone vid? Hope they talk about another track.
Nope, Matt didn't speak but his drumming performance wasn't wildly exciting.
It was proficient. A professional job for a mediocre drum track.

Yeah, I guess. It's not like it required him to do much.

The main thing I'm worried about is, where are the rock songs!?
There seem to be only 2 on the entire album with Getaway and MYM. LTRP seems to be a fun bluesy type song, and that's cool, but the rest of the songs are mid tempo and slow. What's up with that? Makes it even worse to know that Bob pushed for SBM when they at least have Of The Earth waiting in the wings. Ugh.

I wonder if it's too late to start a petition to have Future Days replaced by a heartfelt and plaintive reading of Bibbity Bobbity Boo.

Lightning Bolt is a rock song. So that's 4.

I thought it was kind of a waste of time. It was meant to be lighthearted and fun, I get that. But the song has some bite, so why goof off in a promo video for this song? It would have been great to hear something meaningful from Ed here.

In that context, I agree. The song talks about serious stuff (or so we're meant to think).

I was kind of assuming Mind Your Manners would be the pinnacle rawk moment on this one anyway, since it's that rare heavy song that Ed doesn't feel the need to shriek like a kind of thing that shrieks entirely too much and not really when you want it to anyways over the top of.

I guess Ed just didn't feel like anything needed to be added. This band aren't as good as Soundgarden at talking about the meaning of their work.

You know you're bored when you are really complaining about a 30 second promo video.

I guess but LB is definitely more mid tempo and uplifting. It's in the realm of Given to Fly , Amongst the Waves, In Hiding, etc.
I'm talking Brain of J , Go, Breakerfall, Life Wasted. Only MYM has satisfied that, and it seems like only Getaway is the other hard rock song. I was just looking forward to having some stuff to rock out to in addition to the slow dark stuff, which I also love.

I liked the video, I thought it was fine. I honestly just think he probably felt the song speaks for itself.

Idk i thought the video was cool. Or maybe not cool, cute, i thought it was cute. Ed tends to waffle anyway.

I liked the video and smiled. But as a die hard Pearl Jam fan I always want way more than they give.

This phrase needs to be slapped on whatever sticker they place over the shrink wrap for this album, instead of a "contains the hit singles..." or Rolling Stone review comment.

He really does waffle. Whatever he could've said about this song wouldn't have been very enlightening. I mean, it's not rocket science is it? "It's, um, about all the shit in the world... and um, yeah... um, put all these guys in a room and they could change the world."
