The important distinction here is that the charges he plead to were related to his work outside of the campaign; there's also some legal speculation popping up on Twitter now that he has been wearing a wire, based on some comments made. At any rate, this guy is bad news for Trump, and watching SHS try to create distance now is laughable.

So Manafort and Gates are pleading Not Guilty, meaning they're not flipping on Trump. But Popo did plead guilty, and of course there's still Michael Flynn.

1. Previous reporting claimed that Mueller's team was using a grand jury in Virginia.

2. Today's indictments came via a Washington D.C. GJ, even though Manafort lives in Virginia and much of his laundered money went into purchases there. I believe that legally there has to be a connection between the alleged criminal behavior and the location of the GJ.

3. Dana Boente, who had a prominent role in the Trump admin's JD, resigned from his post as US attorney for Virginia rather suddenly on the same day the indictments were approved.
