I'm so glad I still like this album, because I bought a T-shirt and I didn't want to hate it before the T-shirt arrived in the post.

I don't have the money. But if and when I do before I die, it's on the list.

It wasn't too bad but I doubt I'll be listening to the whole record through again any time soon (if at all).

My Father's Son, Lightning Bolt, Swallowed Whole and Let the Records Play are, for my money, genuinely great Pearl Jam songs. The rest is something of a mixed bag.

The end of the record was tough going. Sleeping by Myself, Yellow Moon and Future Days must be the dullest run of songs in the entire catalogue.

I seriously love this song so fucking much. In fact, I think I like it so much that it makes me like the rest of the record even less.

It's a good 'un.

That bridge is so good.

I started putting together a compilation/playlist of my favorite tracks from 2013 today, and when I was listening back to what I had so far, I was pleased to find Swallowed Whole more than holds it's own with all the other stuff I've loved this year.

Ha - I did the same thing myself the other day, SW sits in the track 4 spot and is a great pick me up after the ending of Orpheus :nice:

What else made your list Lament? I've started a thread in OB...

Yellow Moon is awesome man. SBM is not dull either IMO. This is a very good album and I love Swallowed Whole, Getaway, yM, Infallible and Pendulum.

I like swallowed whole, and I don't understand why I don't love it. It's like that song was written specifically to appeal to me.

That strikes me as odd too.

Confession: I played Swallowed Whole three times in a row while I was running today, and it struck me that in a lot of ways it succeeds in doing the things so many of us feel like they failed to do on Backspacer. It's a very effortless, organic, simple piece of music that manages to be euphoric in a manner that they rarely ever achieve, yet it's still very true to who Pearl Jam is. It's instant, but not throwaway and meaningless. It sounds genuinely vital and full of life. With each passing listen I'm more and more convinced that it really will earn a long-term spot among my favorite songs from their entire career.

Yeah, I get all that. I completely understand why somone might be totally into it. And when I write it up I'll say the same things. But there is like a trigger that fails to switch between head and heart

And like I said I still like the song. But I SHOULD love it
