I've never been a multi-day in a row runner. Except, obviously when marathon training. This week I have to do four days in a row if I want to get in my four training runs. But I still want to life two days also for cross training.
Today was a 3 miler and then 40 minutes of circuit/weights. Tomorrow I'll do a 4 miler. Thursday will be another 3 miles and circuit/weights -- at least 30 mins, is the goal. Then Friday will be my "long" run for the week. Right now, I'm hoping to have the leg stamina for a 5 miler. We'll see.
It's also possible I just do another 3 on Friday and call it a win for the week.
Then Saturday I fly to LA.

You and my brother will be in LA at the same time. You should hit him up and show him Hollywood.
As far as running multiple days in a row, are you planning to vary the intensity of the runs at all or just go? You planning any running in LA?

Does anyone here have any experience with 80/20 running?

No, the LA trip is like a 24 hour thing. Fly out Saturday morning. Wedding Saturday night. Fly home Sunday afternoon.
Yeah, I'll mix up intensity a bit as I can. Today's run was fully at race pace. Tomorrow's will be easy/slower. Then Thursday I'll do some strides/sprints.

Tell me more about your easy/slow strategy. How slow can you go?

Woof. It's tough. Usually on my "slow" days I basically let my legs dictate my pace.
I CAN go as slow as like 10:30 per. But that's tough and I usually need to be running with my wife for that. By myself I try to keep it to around 9:35/9:40 per for a "slow" run. But again, if my legs are tired and I'm struggling anyway, I just let my legs tell me what to do.

Thanks. That sort of insight is really interesting to me.
The last couple of days I've been targeting this range and a little faster (closer to 9:50 than 9:30) and it is indeed tough. I find that I'm trying to keep my HR steady (sub 152 is zone 2 for me) and in doing that, my run gets slower as I go. I guess the goal currently is to train my aerobic system well enough that I can run a little faster but stay in zone 2.
I didn't think I'd enjoy the challenge of deliberately running as slow as I can, but I do. I can feel my heart working well after the workout and the slowness has really, really helped me take in the surroundings on my runs this week. Added bonus -- minimal fatigue in the legs. 7 miles over the last two days.
This is 80/20 I'm talking about, so at some point I'm going to have to find a way to do some speedwork or find some hills, but for now I can really appreciate how this type of running will help me sustain higher and higher mileage as I look to a marathon.

You're way more thoughtful and advanced than I am about running. 80/20, lactic threshold, you're all into stuff that I don't have any idea about. That's super cool. Just keep doing what you're doing if it's working for you.

I'm one of those personality types that dives too deep into something when I'm interested in a subject. I never let it get in the way of just enjoying my run, but I'm trying to learn all I can to help me run efficiently and to consistently enjoy runs for decades.

I'm wiped the fuck out, though. Which is surprising. I may have to just lift/cross train tomorrow. Then run Friday. That's only three runs and I really wanted to get in four this week. But I'm feeling it.

I went for a two mile, hour long hike today. Did wonders for my legs.
Joe, we should just change this to a second hiking thread.

How often do you rotate shoes? Hope you get the problem solved soon.
